At Associated Steel, we pride ourselves on offering an in-depth selection of alloy steels. These materials include hot roll heat treated, cold finished annealed, turned ground and polished, heat treated hollow stock, and custom manufactured wear “rails”.
Alloy Steels
Kromite® #3
is a modified 4140/4150 alloy. It is offered in the hot roll, heat treated condition. Typical hardness is Rockwell “C” 28/34. Typical tensile strength 156,000 PSI. This proprietary product provides elevated strength and deep uniform hardness, excellent cleanliness, and refinement to the grain structure to enhance the fatigue resistance of the steel. Good choice of steel for machined parts requiring higher resistance to toughness and general impact resistance.

Mirraloy® TGP
is a modified 4140/4150 alloy. It is offered in the heat treated, TGP condition. Typical hardness is Rockwell “C” 28/34. Typical tensile strength 156,000 PSI. This is a “near” bearing-fit shaft. Good choice of steel for machined parts requiring higher resistance to fatigue, toughness and general impact resistance. It is offered stress relieved, machine straightened and has a precision finish of RMS 15.

Kromite® CD
is a modified 4140 alloy. It is offered in the cold finished annealed condition. Typical hardness is Rockwell “C” 19/24. Typical tensile strength 114,000 PSI. Its wear resistant properties far exceed that of “cold roll” steels. Offers an excellent upgrade in applications where 1018, 1020, 1045 and 1060 carbon steels are being utilized. Single largest selection of cold drawn alloy shapes in one location in North America.
