At Associated Steel, we pride ourselves on offering an in-depth selection of carbon steels. These materials include induction hardened linear shafting, pre-keyed shafting and keystock.
Carbon Steels
Mirraloy® FM TGP
is a high strength micro-alloyed, free machining carbon steel. Typical hardness is Rockwell “C” 26. Typical tensile strength 133,000 PSI. Exhibits up to 50% more strength than that of a 1018 carbon steel. This is a “near” bearing-fit shaft. Machinability is 83% of C1212. Good choice of steel for machined parts requiring better tensile strength and wear resistance than 1045 or 1018.

Mirraloy® FM Pre-Keyed TGP
is a high strength micro-alloyed, carbon steel with the shaft keyed the entire length of the bar. Typical hardness is Rockwell “C” 26. Typical tensile strength 133,000 PSI. Exhibits up to 50% more strength than that of a 1018 carbon steel.
